Historial trails of the Lemhi Valley, Idaho-Lewis & Clark in Lemhi County, Idaho-Aug. 12-Sept.4 1805

This book is written in the chronological order that the events of the Lewis and Clark Expedition took place in Lemhi County, Idaho. Both Lewis and Clark conducted separate reconnaissance trips into the county before the entire party traversed it. To minimize the confusion, each day includes the activities of each Captain separately.

The text and the pictures coincide, with captioning printed in blue. The pictures are a part of the story and represent, as much as possible, the exact sites and scenes encountered by the explorers. The pictures are accurate, also, as to the time of year and daily weather conditions experienced at the time of the expedition. Included are pictures of informational signs found today along the trail. These are numbered and located on the maps following this page. Most photographs are likewise located. All are numbered sequentially starting at Lemhi Pass and progressing northward through the county.
